Council approves amended beach hotel development

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- The city council Thursday night approved a revised plan for a new hotel project north of the Hyatt Regency.

The conditions include penalty payments if the developer fails to build the project within four years.

The new building is smaller than one originally proposed, but would have as many hotel rooms.

Because of delays in getting the original project started, the site is presently being used as a parking area.

The vote was for 4-1 for approval.
