First Public input meeting held on Lens Pier Project | News
St. Petersburg, Florida - Dozens of people gathered Thursday night at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg for a public meeting on the Lens Pier Project.
City officials said they wanted input moving forward with the project. This was the first of four meetings.
The meeting started with a presentation about why the old pier needs to be replaced, and then details on the Lens Project.
But it seemed a number of people were still not sold on the $50 million pier.
During the public comment period, some people still said they wanted to keep the current pier. Others said they wanted a referendum to vote on the Lens Project.
But city officials reminded the public the decision was already made to move forward with it, and they will continue to do so.
Some residents did make suggestions to the Lens Project, such as the addition of a restaurant on the pier.
Other people at the meeting said they did like the Lens Project and were pleased with the decision.
There will be three more public input meetings held.
