Intracoastal bridges part of RNC federal security zones | News
Clearwater, Florida -- The intracoastal waterway from the Memorial Causeway Bridge south to the Pinellas Bayway has been included in the federal security zone for the Republican National Convention.
The zones take effect Aug. 25 and end Aug. 31.
"Expeditious transit through the federal security zones will be allowed," the Coast Guard announced today. "However, anchoring, loitering, mooring and stopping are prohibited within 50 yards of designated bridges during the times and dates listed (below)."
Those bridges include the Memorial Causeway Bridge, the Sand Key Bridge and Belleair Causeway Bridge.
The zone also affects bridges as far south as the Pinellas Bayway. The bascule bridges will be left in the down position while the security zones are enforced.
The enforcement hours are:
- Sunday, Aug. 26: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Monday, Aug. 27: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Aug. 28: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 29: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 30: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
