Bay area shoppers wait hours for Black Friday deals | News
CLEARWATER, FL - Hundreds of shoppers lined up outside Toys R Us in Clearwater waiting for the store to open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The store, like several others, started its Black Friday deals earlier this year.
Some got in line at 10 a.m. Others waited until 3 in the afternoon or later.
The first 200 shoppers in line were given gift bags with toys and snacks. Some looked over the circular and plotted their course as they tried to keep warm- waiting for the store to open.
For some shoppers, the only reason they got in line was because the store opened earlier.
"It's not like it's four in the morning. I would not have done it, had it been midnight, like they did last year. But to me it's the evening, we've already done our family thing. We're continuing to do our family thing. And that's what most important," said shopper, Rebecca Fleshman.
At 8 p.m., the store started letting shoppers in, 50 at a time. They wasted no time getting all the goodies on their lists.
"There were a couple of items that were on a really good deal and I just couldn't't pass them up," said shopper, Jaime Hegeman.
A line remained outside the Toys R Us Thursday at 11PM, as waves of shoppers were still being let in. The store will stay open until midnight Friday.
