Family enjoys new home for the holidays

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Elizabeth Gamble and her two sons have a new address.  The moved into their Habitat for Humanity home just in time for the holidays.

"I just can't stop smiling. I'm so excited," says Elizabeth.

The Gambles spent the last several months in a cramped two bedroom, one bathroom apartment.  The boys shared a room.  All three shared the bathroom.  Their new home now has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

"It's a great feeling to get a house," adds Elizabeth's 17-year-old son.

The Gamble's went through Pinellas Habitat for Humanity to qualify for their new home.

Ron Spoor, the chief operating officer for Habitat for Humanity says it "provides them a chance for home ownership and home ownership that they helped to build because they worked sweat equity alongside in partnership with the community."

The Gamble's have a zero interest mortgage, making home ownership that much more affordable. To qualify for a habitat house, you must volunteer with the group as the Gamble's did and meet certain financial criteria, including displaying an ability to pay your bills on time.

"We have a lot to give thanks for," adds Elizabeth.
