Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Assistant Fire Chief Scott Magness takes his skills to Central America once a year providing medical, dental and vision services to people in Guatemala.
"Typically, it's the Mayan population," explains Magness. "They are very low on the social strata. They receive very litte, if any, medical care."
Not only do they help people, they try to educate them to help themselves and each other.
When they make their annual journey, they take hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies, and even the equipment to make people glass.
In October, they saw 700 people.
"I know we can't change the world, but our group made a difference for the 700 people we saw in the week they were in Guatemala," said Magness.
