CSX railroad construction replaces railway ties

Pinellas County, Florida -- Three CSX railroad crossings in Clearwater will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic from Wednesday, May 29 to Tuesday, June 4.

The reason for the closure is due to railroad tie replacement and construction. The following CSX railroad intersections will undergo railroad tie replacement and are scheduled to reopen by Wednesday, June 5:

  • Railroad crossing at Lakeview Road (between South Fort Harrison and Myrtle avenues)
  • Railroad crossing at Woodlawn Street (between Carmel and Scranton avenues)
  • Railroad crossing at Howard Street (between South Fort Harrison and Scranton avenues)

East- and westbound traffic can use Belleair Road, Jeffords Street, and Pinellas Street as detour routes, and detour signs will be posted.

Once CSX completes the tie replacement, a city contractor will restore the area to its original state.
