Three students to be honored during scholarship awards

Dunedin, Florida -- Dunedin High School Resource Officers will present scholarship awards to three Dunedin High School seniors to help cover college costs.

These scholarships will be presented during the S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) awards ceremony. The $2750 in scholarships funds were made possible through the generous donations of various local businesses and through partnerships established by the Dunedin SROs. A total of three scholarships will be awarded during the ceremony; one for $1500, one for $750 and one for $500.

The application process for the scholarship was open to Dunedin High Seniors who have been accepted to a college/university. The process was sponsored by the Dunedin High School S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club. Interested students were required to submit an essay describing how they could keep from making destructive decisions in their lives. The essays were presented anonymously to a panel, who rated and selected the best submissions.

The top four essays were selected and based on merits to include the student's academic performance, discipline, attendance and financial need, the top three were awarded.

The names of the award recipients are being withheld until after the ceremony.

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dunedin High School Auditorium.
