Family pleads for public's help on anniversary of security guard's death
News

Clearwater, Florida -- Six years ago today, July 30, Leon Dash Jr. was killed as he tried to break up a fight while working as a security guard at a bar in downtown Clearwater.

On the anniversary of his death, the 48-year-old's family is asking for the public's help getting information on his case that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Police say Dash was working at the Atrium Martini Bar on Park Street when a major brawl broke out in the parking lot after the club was closed following a "teen night". He was found bleeding in the parking lot with severe injuries to his head.

He was flown to Bayfront Medical Center where he died early the following morning.

Despite surveillance video being handed over to authorities, it's been six years and no arrests have been made.
