100 festive yachts to line up for annual holiday boat parade

TREASURE ISLAND, FL -- Over 100 boats will be adorned in seasonal lights to sail from The Club at Treasure Island's 48-slip marina at the 25th annual Treasure Island Lighted Boat Parade. The event will take place on Saturday evening, December 11, 2010.

The Club at Treasure Island will open to the public at 4:30 pm for the pre-parade festivities, which will include a visit from Santa Claus for the children, plus complimentary chowder, hot dogs, Christmas cake, hot cider and coffee.  A cash bar will be available for adults.

This year's parade theme is "Celebrate Our Freedom" and will raise funds for the Edwards Family Foundation, a St. Petersburg-based charity that provides special assistance to disadvantaged children in our community during the holidays.

This is the one time each year when The Club at Treasure Island, a private, members-only club, opens its grounds to non-members.  Spectators and visitors are encouraged to bring one unwrapped new toy, or provide a cash donation for admittance.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:20 pm, pass through the Treasure Island Causeway Bridge at 7:00 pm, and end at John's Pass at 8:15 pm. The judging at The Club at Treasure Island will follow, at 9:00 pm.
