City to replace beachwalk lights

Clearwater Beach, Florida - The city is planning to replace the bollard lights that ring the BeachWalk.

Many of the lights have been taken out of service, because of weathering or vandalism, the city says.

New precast concrete lights have been ordered, but the timing of their installation is subject to approval by the Department of Environmental Protection. Like the present lights, the new ones cannot attract sea turtle hatchlings.

The city intends to replace the missing and broken bollard lights first, then replace the remaining lights. The replacement process will take two or three years.
