Pedestrian hit, killed by car in St. Petersburg | News
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) - A pedestrian was hit by a car and dragged for a short distance after collapsing in a St. Petersburg crosswalk.
Police say the incident happened about 3:55 p.m. Tuesday just north of Central Avenue. The pedestrian, who hasn't been identified yet, was pronounced dead a short time later at Bayfront Medical Center.
According to police, 62-year-old William Fegan was driving southbound when he hit the pedestrian.
The St. Petersburg Times reports that Fegan left the scene, but was found shortly afterward and interviewed by St. Petersburg police. He was released, pending an investigation.
