Tarpon girls make a difference for one local shelter

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Best friends Sarah Tinsley and Eleni Lambrianos were hoping to make a difference in the lives of animals.  Boy, did they ever.

The 11-year-old girls took part in "Make a Difference Day" on Saturday, Oct. 22, a national effort to get people to volunteer.  Sarah and Eleni decided to raise money for the Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor selling lemonade, cookies, doggie treats and specially-made clothing.

As of Tuesday, donations are still coming in--but the girls will likely raise over $1,000!

Sarah & Eleni had a lot of support over the weekend.  Tarpon Springs Mayor David Archie and City Manager Mark Lecouris stopped by the stand, along with several members of the city's Recreation Department.

"People brought their dogs and spent time together drinking lemonade overlooking the pretty bayou," wrote Sarah's mother Charlotte Tinsley in an email to 10 News.  "It was a beautiful day!  It was a busy day!"
