Tarpon's "Sunshine Girls" present check to animal shelter | News
Dunedin, Florida -- The Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor is enjoying a fresh influx of income--thanks to a pair of enterprising girls from Tarpon Springs.
11-year-olds Sarah Tinsley and Eleni Lambrianos, who call themselves the "Sunshine Girls," held a lemonade and cookie stand in October for Make a Difference Day. They've been doing it for several years as a fundraiser for the Suncoast Animal League.
This year, the girls outdid themselves.
On Saturday, Sarah and Eleni presented the animal league's president Rick Chaboudy with a check for $1006.18 at the League's "Dogtoberfest" event in Dunedin.
"Because of what you guys are doing," said Chaboudy, "these animals lives are litterally saved. And not only do they go and live a better life with a family, the family lives a better life with them."
Eleni and Sarah plan to hold another sale next year and hope to raise even more money for the Suncoast Animal League.
