Mandalay lane striping Friday in Clearwater

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Expect traffic delays on Mandalay Avenue Friday. 

Having completed the repaving project, crews will now stripe the lanes from the Roundabout to Baymont Street and along Baymont Street, incoluding parking areas, the city has announced. 

Instead of using paint, crews will use thermoplastic striping - a hot plastic that is applied at about 500 degrees and cures in about four seconds. The city says it is stronger than regular striping paint, and lasts longer.

 

 

St. Pete extends Beach Drive parking, Free Fare Zone for trolley

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The City of St. Pete has partnered with St. Petersburg Trolley to help provide an alternative to overflowing street parking at Beach Drive.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 28, the Dolphin parking lot along the Pier approach will be designated as Beach Drive overflow parking. Motorists can park in the lot for a $3 flat fee ($5 during special events).

Gas leak stopped near Admiral Farragut Academy

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Students were evacuated from a building at Admiral Farragut Academy due to a gas leak near the campus Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say a 6-inch natural gas line experienced a leak at Park Street and Country Club Drive.

Hazmat crews assisted TECO gas company to cap the leak. The leak was stopped around 1:45 p.m.

Health inspector finds roaches in restaurant's soap dispenser

ST. PETE BEACH, Florida- A popular waterfront restaurant shut down by state health inspectors at the end of last year is having problems again.

10 News first investigated The Salty Rim back in December. The restaurant is located on Blind Pass Road on the very north end of St. Pete Beach.

Woman crashes into 3 vehicles, tries to flee scene with baby

St. Petersburg, Florida -- A 19-year-old mother is heading to jail Tuesday evening after she crashed her SUV into three cars and tried to run from the scene with her 8-month-old baby.

Witnesses at the scene told St. Pete police the driver of the SUV, Ayonna Harrison, hit a white car and kept going at 2nd Avenue and 34th Street. The driver of the white car followed Harrison's SUV which then ran a red light at the 37th Street and 2nd Avenue North intersection hit another car, flipped and crashed into a third vehicle.

Hercules lane closure through March 18th

Clearwater, Florida-- Northbound lanes of Hercules Avenue will close to traffic intermittently from Diplomat Drive to Imprial Way through March 18th, the city has announced.

Flagmen will direct traffic around constrruction related to the city's second reverse-osmosis water treatment plant.
