St. Pete still not issuing red light camera refunds

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida - City staff told city council during a marathon workshop Thursday that it had extended a number of yellow lights that fell below the state's minimums. But there's still no indication drivers who got red light camera tickets because of the short yellows will ever receive refunds.

Mayor Rick Kriseman, city council, red light camera (RLC) supporters, as well as opponents met for more than two-and-a-half hours Thursday afternoon to discuss the future of the technology in the city.

Water restrictions change for Pinellas County Utilities customers

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County water restrictions will change for Pinellas County Utilities customers effective Saturday, March 1.

These new changes will allow for lawn irrigation to return to two days per week according to the seasonal guidelines of a Phase II Severe Water Shortage Order previously issued by the Southwest Florida Water Management District's Governing Board.

Seven arrested in Clearwater drug bust

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Police conducted a two day sweep that resulted in the arrest of seven people and the seizure of about $17,000 worth of crack cocaine.

Search warrants were served at four different homes on Madison Streent, Pennsylvania Avenue, Bently Street and Arden Avenue. Seven guns, three vehicles, marijuana and cash were seized in addition to the cocaine.

Law enforcement stepping up security on Pinellas Trail

Largo, Florida -- Recent problems on the Pinellas Trail have police stepping up patrols and increasing security measures.

On Wednesday, local law enforcement met with a group of volunteer rangers that are working to make the trail as safe as possible.

This action comes after three incidents over the past month have left those on the trail feeling unsafe.

City of St. Petersburg investigating bridge work

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Polluted waterways?

That's what the city of St. Petersburg is trying to find out after we came to them yesterday with concerns that their hired contractor was dumping paint chips into the water while working on the 40th Ave. North East Bridge.

The city also says it will meet with the hired contractor and go over proper procedures before letting the contractor get back to work.
