One dead in mobile home fire overnight


Pinellas Park, FL - A mobile home went up in flames at around 2:30 a.m. this morning. This happened at a mobile home park on Oxford Drive, which is off 66th Street.

We have confirmed that one man is dead and that the scene is still active.

Crews are still tearing down walls searching for hot spots.

We are still waiting to learn what caused the fire and if smoke alarms ever went off.


St. Pete Food Truck Rally Symbolizes Growth In City


St. Petersburg, Florida -- As Wendy Gonzalez preps the menu board on her food truck -- the Latin Lunchbox -- she can hardly contain her excitement for St. Pete's first ever weekday street food truck rally on Friday. It will benefit All Children's Hospital.

"For me, it's a way to participate and give back to such great people. I can't be thankful enough," she explains.

Palm Harbor man dies while saving his drowning dog


Pinellas County, Florida -- A man and his best friend -- a relationship so close the man gives his own life to save his 3-year-old Yorky name Rascal.

"He loved golfing. He loved people. He had a lot of good friends," says Roy Carlson, John Patti's neighbor.

And among the friends on John Patti's pontoon boat Saturday afternoon was Rascal.

Roy says, "He usually takes his dog with him boating, usually on a leash. Not sure how he got off the leash, tricky dog."

Deputies searching for missing boater


Palm Harbor, Florida -- Pinellas County deputies searched for about six hours Saturday on Lake Tarpon for a missing 70-year-old boater. They say he was out with friends on the lake and that he jumped overboard to go after his dog who had also jumped in.

Divers were out on Lake Tarpon at 4 p.m. and didn't stop the search for the missing man until 10:30 p.m.

Man injured in jetski accident


Clearwater, Florida -- A man was injured in a jet ski accident off the Courtney Campbell Causeway.

Florida Fish and Wildlife says a man on a jet ski was trying to go under the Courtney Campbell Bridge when he hit one of the pilings.

He was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.

A good Samaritan says the jet skier was unconscious when he helped pull him out of the water:


Charge added for man who killed crossing guard


Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater police say they're adding a new charge for Julious Johnson, the man who allegedly ran a red light and caused an accident that killed a crossing guard and injured his two young children.

Car drives into Dunedin apartment building


Dunedin, Florida -- Pinellas authorities are at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Beltrees Street in Dunedin where a car reportedly slammed into a building.

Authorities say two people were in the car. So far, there is no word on any injuries.
