Gulfport, Florida -- After starting with Gulfport as a 25-year-old in 1978, Parks and Recreation Superintendent Bob Williams has announced his retirement.

Williams, who started as a landscape technician at $4.33 per hour, now runs the city's leisure services department. Locals know both Williams and his massive fluffy dog, Boomer, both of whom are common fixtures at city events.
He told the Gabber the parks department once served as a proving ground for city employees.
