Clearwater High student wins second place in C-SPAN video contest

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater High junior Alexandra “Allie” Chandler won second place in C-SPAN’s annual StudentCam contest for her video documentary about protecting students from gun violence.

CSPAN’s national video documentary competition encourages students to think seriously about issues affecting communities and the nation. The StudentCam 2013 contest asked students to create a short video documentary on the following theme: “Message to the President — What’s the most important issue that the president should consider in 2013.”

The topic is media coverage of race relations in 2013. Poynter's Kenny Irby will moderate the March 14 event.

Gulfport, Florida -- Each of the two candidates, Bob Worthington and Sam Henderson, who hope to serve Gulfportians as their next mayor must submit treasurer reports to the City Clerk.

On each report they must declare all donations, both monetary and in-kind, they received. The candidates may receive donations through midnight tonight, March 7 and must turn in their final report this Friday.

Here’s what each candidate has collected thus far; we will update these numbers after the clerk receives the final reports.
