POLICE: Ex-cop murders wife and is never caught!

Palm Harbor, Florida - June Mobley wasn't the type to stay out late.  In fact, most nights she was in fairly early.

She was in the midst of a painful divorce with a volatile man.

June's son would check on her each day to make sure his mother was alright.

The 49-year-old cherished her independence, but also knew when to ask for help.  If she needed anything from the attic, she would always call her son.

Curran makes triumphant return to St. Pete council

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida - Just moments before Thursday afternoon's city council meeting, seven nameplates marked the seven seats for the councilmen who have been deciding city policy for the last five months.

But at the last second, city staff squeezed an eighth nameplate in - one that belonged to Councilwoman Leslie Curran, absent since August 30 when she suffered a brain injury after falling from her bicycle.

Roll call at the start of the meeting was interrupted following an affirmative response from Curran and the audience - as well as her fellow councilmembers - rose to their feet, clapping.  She was presented with approximately two dozen red roses to go with the handshakes and hugs she had received throughout the day at city hall.

The street she lived on was renamed from Preston Avenue South to Paris Avenue South after her death.

Last week, one of the men arrested in her death pled guilty to 2nd degree murder. Tonight, there was a celebration of her life as well as a candlelight vigil.

Paris' aunt says she's forgiven the suspects, saying she uses the tragedy to help other kids learn to read and enjoy books like Paris did.
