Pinellas County Animal Services needs teen volunteers

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services is seeking responsible teen volunteers to help leader volunteers with dog walking. Teens must be between the ages of 16 and 18 and must commit to 12 hours per week at the shelter. The eight-week program will begin on Monday, June 10, and end on Friday, Aug. 16.

Largo, Florida -- Improve reading skills and make a new furry friend by reading to therapy-trained dogs on March 23.

It will be held at the Largo Public Library at Largo Public Library 120 Central Park Dr Largo, FL.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Pinellas County Animal Services close on March 26

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services will close its offices on Tuesday, March 26, for staff development and long-term planning.

Animal Services will reopen on Wednesday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents are reminded that, starting Monday, April 1, the shelter’s hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Expanded Saturday hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturday services will include adoptions. Rabies vaccinations are now administered on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tampa Bay is finding new ways to connect pets with families and help lost pets find their way home.

Community Animal Connections is program beginning in 2013 that will improve the quality of life and outlook for all animals in the Tampa Bay community, especially the tens of thousands of pets facing homelessness each year.
