Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas County Animal Services is seeking volunteers to be a part of the foster care team, as part of an effort to save pets that are in need of time away from the shelter.
Gulfport, Florida -- For a therapy dog, Calypso doesn't really know when to stop crying for attention. But don't let her bad behavior from getting your dog tested as a therapy dog; she only cries, in this instance, because she wants me to let her misbehave, and I'm making her wait until I finish interviewing her trainer before I focus on her.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services celebrates the month of August by offering a reduced adoption fee of $25 on shelter dogs and cats. The low cost adoption fee includes medical check-up, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, internal and external parasite control, heartworm testing and feline leukemia testing and micro chipping.
As part of the celebration, $5 rabies vaccinations with the purchase of a required license will be available for pets each Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services will be closed on Tuesday, July 30, for an In-Service Day. The facility will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, July 31.
Pinellas County Animal Services is located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services include adoptions. Rabies vaccinations are administered on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The facility is closed all Pinellas County holidays.

Saturday, August 3rd, 2013, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the air-conditioned Minnreg Hall, 6340 126th Ave, Largo, FL 33773, enjoy doggie-related activities including vaccines and microchips, a doggie splash zone, and adoptable pets. Friendly, vaccinated, leashed pets are welcome - but not required.
Tarpon Springs, Florida -- The issue raised a few feathers among some people, but on Tuesday night Tarpon Springs City Commissioners approved an ordinance allowing backyard chickens on residential properties.
