Pinellas County Animal Services close on May 21

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Pinellas County Animal Services will be closed on Tuesday, May 21 for in-service day. 

This will affect the Pinellas County Animal Services located at 12450 Ulmerton Road in largo.

Regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will resume on May 22.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Humane Society of Pinellas is holding a photography contest for kids!

In honor of "Be Kind to Animals Week" children and teens can enter the contest by submitting a photo they took of a pet being treated kindly- or is just happy. There will be two age groups: 6-11 years and 11-16  years. 

The contest will run now through May 31 and is open to all children between the ages of 6 adn 16.

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The public is invited to attend the 3rd Annual Bark in the Park Pet Expo.

This free event will take place at Freedom Lake Park on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m.

Pet adoptions, vendors, K-9 demonstrations and crafters offer something for everyone.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase.

Bark in the park is sponsored by the Pinellas Park Police Academy Alumni Association and the Pinellas Park Parks Division.

Clearwater, Florida -- The American Pet Products Association predicts Americans pay more than $53 billion pampering our furry friends. But in Pinellas County, some people just need help hanging onto their pets.

This is also the number one reason people have given up their pets to the Humane Society of Pinellas, because they can't afford it.

Largo, Florida -- The Kiwanis Club of Largo is sponsoring the 7th Annual Pawfest!

On Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. people can head over to Largo Central Park and participate in fun games!

Make sure to bring your favorite pooch to participate in games,activities, lessons, and demonstrations. Spoil him or her with the bounty of products offered by the many vendors specializing in pet related products.

New hours for Pinellas County Animal Services

New hours for Pinellas County Animal Services

Pinellas County, Florida -- Starting Monday, April 1, Pinellas County Animal Services will be open an extra hour each day.

The shelter’s hours of operation are now Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the adoption center closing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday’s hours are also expanded. They are now 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and services include adoptions. 

Shelter services include dog and cat adoptions, pet licensing and reclaiming lost pets. In addition, a licensed veterinarian administers rabies vaccines on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

Dogs Run Free in (part of) McKenney Park

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Dogs can run off leash at the Vina del Mar dog park, and the city won’t find people for having their furry friends off leash at the southeastern tip of Pass-a-Grille just north of Merry Pier, but soon dogs will have a third place to meet other beach dogs: McKenney Park.
