Gulfport, Florida --  Although the Gulfport city council renewed the Gulfport Yacht Club's lease for five years almost three years ago, Tuesday night the city council voted to reduce the rent based on silt accumulation in Boca Ciega Bay that impacts the club's wet slips.

Three grassroots proposals are to invest in reducing youth unemployment, investing in the new 2020 Midtown Redevelopment Plan and to invest in the sustainable community projects program.

Final public hearings on county budget to take place in September

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners will conduct two public budget hearings this month regarding the FY2014 county budget which goes into effect on Oct. 1. 

The tentative $1,763,147,110 balanced budget continues the board’s tradition of providing high quality services to the public while prudently managing the public’s funds. The public budget meetings will take place Thursday, Sept. 5 and Tuesday, Sept. 17, 6 p.m., both days in the fifth-floor Assembly Room of the Pinellas County Courthouse at 315 Court Street in downtown Clearwater.

St. Petersburg, Florida-- You can meet members of the city's newest crime fighting unit - the D.R.O.P. team - at Mayor's Night Out. 

Mayor Bill Foster will be at Wildwood Recreation Center located at 1000 28th St. South on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. 

The Deterrence Response Outreach and Prevention (D.R.O.P.) team will be handing out free bicycle lights and helping cyclists get their bike registered in case it's ever stolen.
