Hear from Mayoral Candidates before you vote

St. Petersburg, Florida -- You can hear from the St. Petersburg Mayoral Candidates at a primary election forum hosted by the University of South Florida St. Petersburg on Thursday, August 15.

The public forum will be held in City Hall's Council Chamber located at 175 Fifth St. North at 6 p.m.

The five candidates on the ballot are Anthony Lenardo Cates, Paul Joseph Congemi, Kathleen Sweeney Ford, David William (Bill) Foster and Rick David Kriseman.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Businesses and residents on St. Pete Beach will pay lower property taxes next year. At the July 23 commission meeting, the commission voted to lower the tentative millage (tax rate) to 2.8569 mils. Currently, beach property owners pay 3.2819 mils.

Tourist Development Council vacancy is announced

Pinellas County, Florida -- Applications are now being accepted for an appointment to the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council. This appointment is valid until Oct. 31, 2016.

The Tourist Development Council and staff of Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater are responsible for making recommendations to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to the Tourist Development Tax. This tax is used to strengthen the local economy and increase employment through the ongoing promotion and development of Pinellas County’s tourism industry.
