Domestic partners can register

Pinellas County, Florida -- Beginning April 15, any two people over the age of 18 will be able to register as domestic partners in Pinellas County, subject to certain limitations. 

Registration as domestic partners will afford unmarried couples certain rights relative to each other regarding health care visitation and decisions, funeral and burial decisions as well as notification of information conveyed to other family members.

Bongo replaces Hemerick on Marine Advisory Board

Clearwater, Florida - The City Council Thurday appointed Jane Davison Bongo of Island Estates to the Marine Advisory Board, replacing F. David Hemerick of south Clearwater Beach.

Hemerick's term ended March 31st and he did not seek reappointment.

Three other board members were reappointed to new terms ending March 31, 2017.

They are Paul Kelley of Bay Esplanade, Paul Lightfoot of Eagles Landing Circle and Eric Spalding of Sedeeva Street, all in Clearwater.

The board makes recommendations regarding City's marinas and waterways.

She and her husband, Steve, raised two girls in Pass-a-Grille, and they still live on the water in Vina del Mar. Her husband has his own semiconductor business on St. Pete Beach.

Safety Harbor, Florida -- The city of Safety Harbor is now accepting applications for the 8th annual Safety Harbor Citizens' Academy. 

The Citizens' Academy runs for 7 weeks and will be limited to 20 participants. The Citizens' Academy will tour key facilities, learn about the challenges facing Safety harbor, interact with City leaders, discover ways to get involved with local government, and learn about the essential functions of their municipal government.
