St. Pete storytellers needed for film

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The St. Petersburg Main Library is making a film that will compile stories from the illustrious decade of peace, love and harmony - the 1960s. 

The stories will be filmed at the Main Library at 3745 Ninth Ave. N on Feburary 22. If you would like to tell your story, please call Kelly Malizia, Manager of Libraries for the City of St. Petersburg at 727-892-5003 to reserve your spot.

Young artist are urged to join the Teen Art Club which meets at the library the 2nd Monday of each month.

Join the next meeting which will take place on Monday, January 13th beginning at 6 PM.

Gather with like minded individuals while working in an informal and supportive environment.

Acrylic painting and pencil drawing are the media to start with.

Pinellas Park, Florida-- The Pinellas Park Library will be opening their doors for a new round of Adult Book Discussions.

These free events will take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning at 2 p.m. 

The next discussion will take place on January 15th, when the group will focus on Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

People join book clubs for various reasons.

Gulfport, Florida -- If council approves a loan, contractors could fix Gulfport's aging sewers by the end of 2015. At Tuesday night's council meeting, councillors heard the second of two presentations.  The first presentation, heard at the December 3 meeting, came from ConEdison Solutions. ConEd Solutions' program would allow Gulfport to borrow the money over up to 20 years. ConEd representatives told Gulfport the city would save money annually with the sewer improvements but if it did not, ConEd would pay the difference.

County offices to close for New Year holiday

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County government offices will close on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in observance of the New Year.

The courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) will not be in session, except for first-appearance advisory hearings and emergency situations.

The Solid Waste Administration Building and HEC3 will be closed. The scalehouse/landfill will be closed.

The Florida Botanical Gardens, county parks and county preserves will be open. The administrative offices of Parks and Conservation Resources will be closed.

Puppets, Drum Circle at Clearwater Libraries

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater libraries have scheduled two festive events between Christmas and New Year's Day.

The Main Library will host the Dascaloja Puppeteers in their annual "Winter Wonder Show," Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Youth Services area. The puppet show, while free and open to the public, is aimed at grade school age children and will include songs pertaining to winter and the winter holiday season.

Gulfport, Florida --  Long-awaited marina improvements took a first step Tuesday night at Gulfport City Council. City Council voted to spend just over $48,000 for construction services, design, and project administration, of the new live aboard facility and a renovation to the existing ship store.
