Clearwater, Florida  -- All Clearwater library branches offer individual computer and e-reader help for patron convenience. Patrons are invited to drop in and bring their personal devices and questions to the following sessions that are available weekly on an ongoing basis:

Largo, Florida - Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 edition of the Citizens' Academy of Largo. This 12 week program consists of weekly sessions (6- 8:30 p.m. on Monday nights) designed to educate residents about the inner workings of their City government.

Gulfport, Florida -- For the first time, another genuine newspaper came off the presses on St. Pete Beach this week. In one of St. Pete Beach's 11 specialty camps –Journalism and Digital Photography – campers produced a newspaper.

City wants your input for parks, recreation master plan

Clearwater, Florida -- The city wants your suggestions on how to update its master plan for parks and recreation.

A community Open House has been scheduled at the Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade, to get citizens imput.

If you have any ideas, stop by the center anytime on Wednesday, August 28th between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Prescribed burn today at Brooker Creek Preserve

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Florida Forest Service will conduct a prescribed burn at Brooker Creek Preserve, today, Aug. 8.

The prescribed burn is expected to start at 10:30 a.m. and end at approximately 6 p.m. It involves approximately 34 acres, near the wellfield area, north of Keystone Road.

Heritage Village closed during tree thinning project

Pinellas County, Florida -- Heritage Village, Pinellas County’s living history museum, will be closed from Wednesday, August 14 through Wednesday, August 28.

Crews are removing several pine trees from the village grounds during a pine tree management project. 

Vital Statistics satellite location open

Vital Statistics satellite location open

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County is opening a satellite Vital Statistics location on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street. 

The Satellite location will be open Tuesdays and Fridays between 7:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and closed between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for lunch.

The satellite office will offer another place for convenient access to birth certificates among other pieces of vital information. 

The location is a 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street
