Public meetings on new Countryside Library scheduled

Clearwater, Florida -- As plans proceed with the replacement of the Clearwater Countryside Branch Library, the city of Clearwater will hold a series of public meetings to discuss the design and seek public input for the new, 22,500-foot building near the Countryside Recreation Center on Sabal Springs Drive.

The first meeting, an open forum format, is slated Thursday, June 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the current Countryside Library, 2741 S.R. 580 at Countryside Boulevard. Citizens may drop in anytime between those hours to view the plans and provide feedback.

This free event will take place at the Pinellas Park Library on Friday, June 21st beginning at 7 p.m.

Celebrate the 500th Anniversary of Florida during this special event, which will explore the state's paranormal history.

Registration is required for this event.

The library is located at the corner of 78th Avenue and 52nd Street in Pinellas Park.

Gulfport, Florida -- Come help the Gulfport Historical Society reinvent itself at its first-ever porch party.

Over the years, community participation in the society has dwindled, and the board wants fresh ideas and new faces to help make the museum a gathering place for everyone who loves Gulfport.

To that end, the Society will host an informal porch party on Friday, June 28. The party will start at 7 p.m.; the society will have light beverages on hand for free and wine available for a small donation.

Clearwater Library to host seminar on publishing eBooks

Clearwater, Florida -- The Clearwater Main Library 100 N. Osceola Ave. will host a Saturday, June 15 seminar at 2 p.m. on how to publish eBooks.

The workshop, led by Diana Silveira, president of Novare Library Services, a firm that specializes in IT solutions for libraries, will cover the growing trends in publishing and the movement toward self-publishing.

Topics will include: how to create covers and cover art; using Kindle Publishing Direct and other online distributors; distribution and sales options for authors; and marketing to improve sales success.
