Seminole - For drivers who use the Pinellas Park driver's license office on 62nd Avenue N in Pinellas Park will have to choose another DMV in the coming weeks. 

The Florida Highway Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced maintenance and renovations need to be completed at the Pinellas Park office April 11 - 29.

Clearwater, FL-- The Clearwater Library System is marking National Poetry Month with a poetry contest for teens for April.


Students in grades 6 through 12 can submit a poem on any subject and in any poetic form now through the end of the month, and compete for a $75 gift card for first place, and a $50 gift card for the runner up.

Volunteers still needed to help build new Largo playground

Largo, Florida - Largo Central Park Playground will be getting a brand new look and state of the art playground equipment this May, 2011.

The current playground (located at 101 Central Park Drive, Largo 33771) is over 15 years old and in need of replacement.

The playground is currently closed for demolition in preparation for a community-build project on Saturday, April 9. From 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., citizens of Largo and surrounding cities are invited to help erect a piece of history by putting together the new Central Park Playground.

Seminole tornado damage

This video of Thursday morning's storm damage was taken in the neighborhood of Seminole Blvd and 113 St. N. in Seminole.

Trees falling over cars and damaging roofs, overturned RVs, and roads completely blocked are some of the effects Seminole saw after the storm.

"Snipe" Signs - paper panhandlers litter St. Petersburg intersections

Throughout the City of St. Petersburg, panhandling has been banned due to the public safety hazard it created.  From most of the major intersections, however, a new type of panhandling has sprouted.

They are called "snipe" signs by the neighborhoods that suffer their blight.  

The signs crop up late Friday nights and early Saturday mornings at major intersections to take advantage of high volume weekend traffic and the weekday schedule of codes compliance officers.
