Pinellas County offices to close for Labor Day

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County government offices will close on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.

The courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) will not be in session, except for first-appearance advisory hearings and emergency situations.

The Solid Waste Administration Building and HEC3 will be closed. The scalehouse/landfill will remain open.

DOH-Pinellas opens two pediatric clinics

Pinellas County, Florida  -- The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County is opening two new pediatric clinics at the St. Petersburg Center and Northeast High School on Monday, August 26. 

The pediatric clinic at the DOH-Pinellas health center in St. Petersburg is at 205 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information or to make an appointment call (727) 524-4410 ext, 7646.

Heritage Village is now accepting donated treasures for the fall

Largo, Florida -- It may be the middle of August but at Heritage Village thoughts are already turning to October, when the 35th annual Country Jubilee brings a celebration of autumn to Pinellas County with artisans, musicians, demonstrations and much more. 

A big draw to the event each year is the huge flea market and book sale, conducted by the Pinellas County Historical Society. Proceeds from this fundraising activity go directly to the operations at Heritage Village and its success depends on the generosity of residents to donate their treasures for the sale.

Community Open Houses are planned for this purpose between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the following locations:

• Aug. 21: Ross Norton Recreation and Aquatic Complex, 1426 S. MLK, Jr. Ave.

• Aug. 22: North Greenwood Recreation and Aquatic Complex, 900 N. MLK, Jr. Ave.

• Aug. 28: Clearwater Beach Recreation Center, 69 Bay Esplanade

• Sept. 3: Countryside Recreation Center, 2640 Sabal Springs Drive

Pine tree management project at Heritage Village postponed until spring

Pine tree management project at Heritage Village postponed until spring

Largo, Florida -- The pine tree management project scheduled for two weeks at Heritage Village has been canceled due to inclement weather.

The historical hands-on museum will reopen as usual on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The project is expected to resume in the spring.

The project was undertaken as part of a conservation effort to protect a majority of the trees, as well as the safety of visitors and the historical structures. The frequent rains, however, have made the ground too wet and the project was postponed.
