Local collaborations saves apartments and adds green features

Clearwater, FL -- The Norton Apartments, on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Clearwater, were built nearly 30 years ago and serve low-income residents.

The aging 48-unit complex was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and at risk of closing, displacing the families living there.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the residents; Carlton Fields, PA; the Department of Housing and Urban Development; Gulfcoast Legal Services; Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County; Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners, the city of Clearwater and Pinellas County Housing Authority, the residents will be able to remain in their community and the apartments will be getting a much needed renovation.
