Habitat Pinellas to dedicate 250th Pinellas County home

St. Petersburg, Florida -- With the dedication of the Wright family home in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County will mark a significant milestone that has enabled 250 low-income families throughout the County, including 635 children, to escape the downward spiral of substandard and poverty housing.

Pinellas County’s newest housing initiative for veterans, Proud Ground Pinellas, will be the featured topic on the radio show There’s No Place Like Home, Thursday, Aug. 2.

The featured guest is Ed Courtemanche, a housing specialist for Pinellas County Community Development, who will provide an overview of the renovations and environmental features of the Proud Ground Pinellas program.  The program offers opportunities for veterans and active military personnel to purchase quality homes at great prices.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- There are plenty of projects planned for construction in St. Petersburg. In fact, to date, there have been close to 14,000 building permits issued in fiscal 2012 which has been the last 9 months.

Construction value has increased as well. With a quarter of the fiscal year still remaining and $232 million in current construction values permitted, fiscal year 2012 should be the highest on record since 2007.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg is undergoing a massive renovation that began in June 2012, and is expected to last until June 2013.

Built in 1963, the nearly 50-year-old Cathedral needed considerable repairs, replacements and renovations in order to remain the spiritual center for the 432,000 parishioners in the five-county Diocese of St. Petersburg.

The Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle is located at 5815 - 5th Avenue North in the west side of St. Petersburg.
