Burger, coffee franchises coming to the beach

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Another franchise restaurant and coffee shop is coming to Clearwater Beach this year.

Union Burger, a hamburger and hand cut fries chain based in Ontario, Canada, will open this summer at 454 Mandalay, the building that formerly housed the Beach Bar.

Union Burger will occupy one side of the building, according to company vice president George Karamountzos, and Coffee Culture, a coffee shop, will occupy the other.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- You'll have to pick up a Big Mac or an order of Chicken McNuggets at another St. Petersburg-area McDonald's, as the 38th Avenue North location is being rebuilt from the ground up.

Crews recently demolished the store located near Publix at the 4th Street North/38th Avenue North intersection.

It's neighbor at 9600 4th Street North near Gandy Boulevard was recently renovated. No word yet on when construction will be completed.

Participants included in Clearwater Beach Restaurant Week

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Organizers have named 25 restaurants that will be taking part in the 3rd Annual Clearwater Beach Restaurant Week.

It will be held May 13 - 19 on South Gulfview Boulevard next to the Beach Walk and is expected to be the largest event of its kind to date.

The restaurants, which will be offering specifically chosen menu items at special pricing, are:

Dunedin, Florida -- Island Outpost will be hosting two days of live bands under the Big Top Tent on Saturday and Sunday to help benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The event start each day at 12 p.m. There will be an outdoor smoker and beer truck onsite to help keep everyone satisfied.

Raffle tickets will go for $2 each or 3 for $5 for major prizes.

Volunteers are also need so head over to Island Outpost at 466 Causeway Blvd. and sign the volunteer sheet or call (727) 286-6139 and have your named added.

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Two new restaurants have opened their doors on Clearwater Beach.

Britts, which closed its LaGuna Grill months ago, has reopened in the same building as the Surf Style mega store and parking garage on South Gulfview Boulevard It opens up onto the Beach Walk.

Toucans Bar and Grill opened last week at 431 Mandalay Avenue. The sports bar features 14 TV screens and is open from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Clearwater, Florida -- The V, formerly The Venue, has announced plans to hire over 75 new team members as part of its grand reopening slated for May 4.

The new positions include a banquet/catering manager, tapas restaurant and sushi servers, bartenders/mixologists, cocktail servers and other restaurant/lounge team members. New administrative positions will offer full-time and part-time opportunities to qualified applicants. 

Applications will only be accepted April 23 - 25, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
