An old favorite now open for business in Seminole

An old favorite now open for business in Seminole

Seminole - Some would consider it a national treasure.  Well OK, let's be honest, only ice cream lovers might.  The latest place for the cold creamery fanatics to get their sweet treat - Dairy Queen's newest location on Park Boulevard at 108th Street.

The DQ Grill and Chill opened April 25 to long lines and a healthy business. This was just the soft opening for the soft serve and grill delights. The grand opening is still to come. Nevertheless the DQ is doing a swift business already amongst its 40 employees.

Metromix restaurant review: Yianni's

Metromix restaurant review: Yianni's

Tarpon Springs is known for its Greek population—the highest percentage of any city in the US, in fact. And where there are Greek people, there is delicious Greek food.

The setting: Amidst the sponge docks and tourists sits Yianni’s, perfectly situated off the busy sidewalk for hungry passerby. The outdoor seating in the front and back is enticing and filled with seemingly satisfied customers just calling you in for a snack.

My big, fat, Greek lunch: My group ordered the flaming cheese, Saganaki ($6.95), as an appetizer. Pan-seared and still in the pan, the waitress extinguished the flames with the squeeze of a lemon. As a Greek descendent myself and a frequent visitor to many a Greek restaurant (and my Yia Yia’s kitchen, of course) I know that there are two things any good Saganaki has: fire and an arrival with the exclamation, “opa!”

Palm Harbor, Florida -  There is a lot of excitement about the Royal Wedding and Innisbrook's Executive Chef, Andre Halston, has an interesting connection to the current buzz about the upcoming nuptials!

In the mid 1990's, Chef Andre cooked for Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Anne when they visited Toronto.  He was working at the Royal York Hotel at the time.  He cooked numerous times for them, including several versions of smoked salmon.

Gulfport welcomes "Dining Out for Tampa Bay" this Thursday, April 28, with over 75 restaurants (16 restaurants and counting from Gulfport!) across the Bay participating in what is quickly becoming one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year.
