Bluegrass and more at Dunedin Brewery this weekend

Bluegrass and more at Dunedin Brewery this weekend

Dunedin, Florida -- Well, there’s always something brewing at the Dunedin Brewery and this week’s no exception.  Thursday, that’s tonight, at 8 pm the Brewery is serving up Pickford Sundries - Florida bluegrass jam. This is an eclectic group of five musicians from across the country that share an uncommon love of a dying American art form - Bluegrass music. If you’d like a little sip of raw, acoustic, unfiltered, non-digitized Americana, strongly flavored by Scotts-Irish melodies and Appalachian pain, get out to the Brewery tonight and drink your fill. But that's just the start...

Jayne Kelli back for encore performance at Dunedin House Of Beer

Jayne Kelli back for encore performance at Dunedin House Of Beer

Dunedin, Florida -- There’s a lot of bottled up excitement at the Dunedin House of Beer over the encore appearance of Jayne Kelli playing live tonight . Her new album, WAKE, released this winter, is about transformation in life and love, and has been described by El Paso music critic, Doug Pullen, as "very organic, soulful folk-rock with prosaic lyrics and natural melodies."

Kelli has been playing around the Tampa Bay area for the past few years along  with tours up to Michigan as well as overseas to Italy and Switzerland last March and April. She has been enlisted to record with various artists in Florida and joined the John Kelly band as a vocalist to open for Martina McBride and Lonestar this past summer.

Cheap Eats: Tony's Pizzeria

Cheap Eats: Tony's Pizzeria

Clearwater, FL -- Outside of New York, Chicago, and Italy, truly excellent pizza can be hard to come by. In Pinellas County, there really are only a handful of great pizza joints.

Lucky for us Floridians, Tony and Jimmy Starova uprooted their New Jersey pizza joint and relocated to the heart of downtown Clearwater, serving up slices, calzones, and other tasty Italian treats.

Dunedin After Dark - Here's what's happening at Dunedin House Of Beer

Dunedin After Dark - Here's what's happening at Dunedin House Of Beer

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 --

Between Bluffs is performing live at the Dunedin House of Beer tonight at 8 p.m., no cover. Depending upon their mood, these guys may show up as an acoustic trio or a six piece ensemble.

Self-described as NewGrass, a progressive blue grass sound, Roots and Experiments in Pop and Folk, the group got started at Justin Davis' studio in Clearwater where they had simply planned to record some songs that Jerrod Simpson had written. They apparently did a good job with that because it wasn’t too long until they started being heard all over Tampa Bay including the Dunedin House of Beer tonight at 8PM. Check them out.

Dunedin After Dark - Here's what's happening this weekend at JolliMon's Grill

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 --

We start off this week at JolliMon’s Grill, Dunedin’s one and only Floribbean restaurant. That means Caribbean with a Florida flair. As some of you know, I lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for a few years and ate and drank at some genuine Island bars and restaurants including the nearly famous Road Apple Resturant. Road Apples is West Indian slang for horse, um, droppings, but don’t let the name fool you. That bar was excellent.

One look at JolliMon’s and you know you’re in the Islands, mon (minus the road apples). It rocks, and so does Robert Sutherland, a JolliMon’s regular, who will be performing on Thursday night, that’s tonight at 7 p.m. Robert and, if we’re lucky his lovely wife Mary on the bongos, will be treating you to songs you know by heart.

And then on Friday night, also at 7 p.m., get ready for the Hip Hop / Jam Band / Reggae sound of Trenchfoot Shindig. If it’s the Caribbean sound you want, there’s no better place to hear it than JolliMon’s and no better band to deliver it than Trenchfoot Shindig.
