In April, district employees attended one of the four grand openings for the new tech support/training initiative, Café 2.1. Three schools-Palm Harbor University High; Morgan Fitzgerald Middle, Largo; and Maximo Elementary, St. Petersburg-were chosen to host one of three Café 2.1 technology sites similar to “Genius Bars” at Apple stores.

Now, parents who need help navigating Pinellas County School’s new website, Parent Portal or the Student Reservation System have the opportunity to meet with district “techperts” to have all their questions answered. Each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-7:30 p.m., parents can get their technology questions answered in a relaxed, individualized session at one of the three convenient school locations.

Parents can get assistance with registering their child for school, how to get a parent password reset, or help in navigating the new website.

Café 2.1 is modeled after Apple’s Genius Bar so parents get a half-an-hour, one-on-one with the district’s most technology savvy teachers during the summer. All funding for Café 2.1 staff comes from the Enhancing Technology Through Technology grant project.
