Tarpon Springs, Florida -- On March 12, four candidates will vie for a seat on the City Commission. If you couldn't attend Tuesday's candidate forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of North Pinellas County, you can still watch the forum.

Library offers OverDriver, eBook Training Workshops

Pinellas Park, Florida -- The Pinellas Park Library is holding a series of OverDrive eBook Training Workshops.

These will run on Wednesdays over a two-week period beginning at 10 a.m.

On Jan. 9, the workshop will show how to use the OverDrive website to find and transfer materials for Kindle users only.

For those with the Nook or any other eReaders including the iPad, the workshop will be on Jan. 16.

The library is located at the corner of 78th Avenue and 52nd Street in Pinellas Park.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- On Thursday, Nov. 1, the second of the fall 2012 Marine Research Salty Topics speaker series, is your opportunity to learn about the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System, the United States’ component of the global Ocean Observing System.

This free program is presented by Dr. Mark Luther, director of the Ocean Monitoring and Prediction Lab at the University of South Florida and associate professor of USF College of Marine Science. This program will be held at the Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center from 6:45 to 8 p.m.

Science festival on the waterfront

St. Petersburg, Florida -- You can check out nearly 100 fun, hands-on exhibits at the 2nd Annual St. Petersburg Science Festival this Saturday. The free event at USF St. Petersburg is hosted in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's 18th Annual MarineQuest.

The event drew 6,000 people last year, and this year's is going to feature almost four times as many exhibits like robotics, medicine, Mars exploration, marine life, green living and the World of the Worm.
