Local estuary programs hold King Tide Photo Contest

Tampa Bay, Florida -- Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay Estuary Programs are holding a King Tide Contest for the best images that depict the King Tide tomorrow, June 5.

King Tides occur when the moon and sun align on one side of the Earth and their gravitational forces combine to create extraordinary high tides - usually twice a year.

Cash prizes are being offered for the best photos that illustrate the sea level rise:

Pinellas County earned the Sunny Award for the second consecutive year and an A+ transparency grade for the third year.

Sunny Award winners are chosen by Sunshine Review, which evaluates state and local government websites nationwide for transparency, citizen engagement and accountability. This year, 214 of the more than 6,000 government websites ranked by Sunshine Review earned a Sunny Award.

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Computer classes will be offered next month at the beach library.

Personal computer classes and PC application support will be available on Mondays at 1 p.m.

E-book basics - how to find, checkout and download books at the library - will be taught Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Digital camera basics, including how to download from your digital camera to your computer, will be offered Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The library is located at 69 Bay Esplanade.
