Merchants along Tarpon Avenue and Hibiscus Street are throwing a last-minute shopping party from 5:00-8:00pm Wednesday evening.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Those who think they are savvy consumers may think twice after hearing about the latest consumer scams. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the radio show “There’s No Place Like Home,” sponsored by the Housing Finance Authority of Pinellas County, will highlight protection against unscrupulous scammers.

The show features Deborah Berry, of Pinellas County Justice and Consumer Services. Topics include the latest consumer scams, how to find a licensed contractor, foreclosure prevention and charitable donations.

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications for two appointments to the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative Inc., a nonprofit corporation that is responsible for providing library services to the unincorporated areas of Pinellas County and to those municipalities that do not have library services, and to improve library services to residents of the municipalities and library tax districts. Each appointment will serve a three-year term.

Belle of the Ball Project helps girls afford homecoming dresses

Pinellas County, Florida -- Belle of the Ball Project will distribute Homecoming dresses to in-need, low-income high school girls on 5 upcoming Saturdays : September 21, 28, October 5, 19, and 26.

Over 3,000 quality dresses will be on display for the girl's choosing, along with shoes and purses. Founded in 2003, Belle of the Ball Project Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide homecoming and prom dresses to high school girls who are unable to afford a dress for these special events.
