Special Fire Districts form a collective voice

Pinellas County, Florida -- Four Independent Special Fire Districts in Pinellas County have entered into an inter local agreement among East Lake, Lealman, Palm Harbor and Pinellas Suncoast Fire Departments for the betterment of the health, safety and quality of life of Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services.

Unlike cities who provide Fire Rescue and EMS services and are governed by a Mayor and/or a City Manager, Special Districts are governed by a Board of Fire Commissioners elected by the citizens within the boundaries of that District.

Get ready for the Tarpon Springs Wine Walk!

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- Buy tickets now for the Wine Walk on July 20.

The Wine Walk will begin at Tarpon Tavern or Wine at the Docks. Tickets and involvement include souvenir wine glass and wine tastings and appetizers from over 25 shops. There are also special promotions and raffles.

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event.

The Wine Walk is on Saturday, July 20th from 4 p.m. to 8 pm.

July is Celebrate Park & Recreation Month and the Tarpon Springs Parks Department is asking you to take a photo of you and the "I (Heart) My Park and Recreation" sign at a local park and email the picture to TSRD@TSRDonline before 4:00pm on July 31st. You must be 18 years old to enter.

Enjoy over 40 merchants participating from opening of business with discounts, give-a-ways and more by purchasing a $10 wristband & be eligible for a drawing in Pioneer Park on Douglas Ave. & Main St. at 8:30 p.m.

Some merchants have wine tastings, art exhibits, food & entertainment. There will also be music by Ed Schmidt & Keith Schwier at 5:30pm. Replacement venue announced for the 2nd Friday drawing if the weather is inclement and if over 15 wristbands have been sold.

Police aides sought for marina, parking and beach

Clearwater, Florida -- The City is accepting applications for the positions of Police Aide and School Crossing Guard.

Police aides assist the police department with security and other functions at the city's marinas, parking facilities and on Clearwater Beach. School Crossing Guards help children safely cross various intersections.
