Parking spaces become public parks with reclaim your space event

Clearwater, Florida -- The City of Clearwater's Planning & Development Department has extended the deadline for artists, designers, and residents to sign up to participate in the Reclaim Your Space event scheduled for Nov. 7. Participants will transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks, or parklets. Applications are currently being accepted from individuals or groups who would like to install a mini-park, now through Monday, Oct. 7.

This free series will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30PM.

The next discussion will take place on Wednesday, October 9th and will focus on Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain.

Copies of each month's selected book will be available for purchase at the Check Out desk.

These free events will take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning at 2 p.m.

The next discussion will take place on September 19th, when the group will focus on Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.

Clearwater, Florida -- The Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., will be hosting a teen Manga Club this fall.

Manga, originally a reading genre that encompassed a wide variety of popular literary materials in Japan, has since been adopted in the U.S. and other countries as a distinctive style of cartooning for graphic novels or comics.

St. Petersburg, Florida  -- The latest development in the Rays Stadium Saga has one of the region's sports-talk stations, 98.7 "The Fan," launching a "Save Baseball in Tampa Bay" campaign today. 

The free kick-off rally runs 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ferg's Sports Bar, prior to this evening's Rays/Red Sox game.
