Kids can help design and create their dream playground

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- The Tampa Bay Rays, Citizens Alliance for Progress, Inc. and organizers from KaBOOM! need some young inspiration to help design a new playground at the Union Academy Family Center.

Organizers are asking kids to put crayon to paper and draw their dream playground. Elements from those drawings will be incorporated into the final design for the new playground which will be built in November at the Union Academy Family Center. Currently the center has no playground.

Heritage Village concludes this year’s historical writing workshop

Pinellas County, Florida -- Award-winning author Angela T. Pisaturo concludes this year’s historical writing workshop at Heritage Village. The final workshop is on Friday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This workshop will conclude the novel writing class. Participants will discuss how to submit their works to publishers and look at the differences between traditional publishing and self publishing

Keep Gulfport Weird Triathlon coming up in September

Gulfport, Florida -- Plans are under way for the upcoming Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, September 28, same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest.   This route connects the 49th St. Redevelopment District with the Waterfront area. The course will incorporate in order, a 1 mile run, 3 mile bike and 1/4 mile swim.  The run will begin at the church parking lot of 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino.
