More south beach public parking gone

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Say goodbye, for a while, to another 72 public parking spaces on the south beach.

The city has agreed to lease public parking lot 32 on Gulfview Boulevard to the company building a new hotel where the Adam's Mark Hotel once stood. The parking spaces - 65 metered, 3 handicapped and 4 reserved -- will be used for employee parking, as well as access for trucks delivering materials for the construction site.

Salt Block 57, LLC, will pay the city $508,165 for exclusive use of the lot, for a period of 15 months.

Tampa Bay Area, Florida- The Florida Department of Transportation has announced the non-interstate lane closures for commuters to take into consideration next week.

They are as follows: 

Citrus County:

  • Florida Avenue (US 41) between the Hernando/Citrus County Line and Rip Terrace: Repaving – Tuesday night lane closures from 7:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Clearwater Beach, Florida - Athletes will swim, bike and run from the beach to the mainland in the TriRock Clearwater triathlon from early morning to early afternoon Sunday.

The event will also result in a number of temporary road closures that will require residents to allow for extra time when traveling Sand Key, the beach, the causeway and Island Estates.

Clearwater, Florida - Drivers attending Halloween parties have another reason not to drink while impaired this week.

The Clearwater Police Department is conducting a Halloween DUI Wolf Pack Operation to get impaired drivers off the roads.

"If you're thinking about drinking and driving the next few nights -- or any night, for that matter -- think again," the department posted o its Facebook page, "We'll be out there looking for those who should not be behind the wheel and are putting innocent lives at risk."

High-end development approved for Keystone Road

Tarpon Springs, Florida -- City Commissioners have approved plans for a high-end subdivision off Keystone Road.

B&B Limited, LLC of Palm Harbor plans to build Keystone Ridge Estates on 11-and-a-half acres at Keystone Road and Melon Street.  The gated community will include 35 single family homes.

Mock-ups of potential homes included in B&B's proposal showed high-end homes--some with multi-stories and pools.

Clearwater, Florida -- 165 spaces along the south edge of Parking Lot #32 will permanently close effective Monday, October 28.

The parking lot will be closed due to the construction of a new hotel development at the site. The current parking lot is located at 332 S. Gulfview Blvd. and is where the former Adam's Mark hotel once stood.
