Railroad crossing repairs to temporarily close roadways

Clearwater, Florida -- Pinellas County Department of Environment and Infrastructure and CSXT Railroad are beginning a project to improve railroad crossings on Belleair Road and Wyatt Street between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Clearwater-Largo Road.

The project will take place in two phases with anticipated construction detours taking place:

Police seek surplus Army Humvees for beach use

Clearwater, Florida -- Three military surplus Humvees in excellent condition may join the police fleet for duty on Clearwater Beach.

Police Chief Anthony Holloway told the City Council Monday his office has been alerted to the availability of Humvees in A-1 condition, costing $1,000 each, by the Florida Bureau of Federal Property Assistance.

The chief told a workshop session the department had five police vehicles damaged by flooding driving through rising water on the beach during Hurricane Debbie last year.

Registration for summer driver’s education classes begins

Pinellas County Schools has announced it will offer free driver’s education classes this summer to public and private school students.

Registration began Feb. 4, and will continue until all slots have been filled.

Road Closure: Tuskawilla Street, from Ewing to MLK Jr. avenues

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Tuskawilla Street from Ewing Avenue to Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue will be closed to traffic now through Thursday, Feb. 28 due to a stormwater rehabilitation project. 

Local traffic only will be allowed through; all other traffic can use Lakeview Road as a detour route.

Seminole, Florida -- Pinellas County offiicials are reporting the eastbound curb and middle lanes of Bryan Dairy Road, between Starkey Road and Belcher Road, has been closed due to a broken water main.

Motorists should expect significant delays. Alternate routes suggested are Park Boulevard or Ulmerton Road.
