Car Totally Flips by Tyrone Mall, Driver Walks Away With Minor Scratches

Approximately 10 a.m. this morning (4/21/2011), a car flipped totally over at the western Tyrone Mall exit lane.  The accident was a single car accident and the driver walked away with minor scratches according to Tyrone Mall security.

Clearwater, FL -- On Sunday, April 10, Cleveland Street from Fort Harrison Ave to Osceola Ave will be temporarily closed from 4 p.m. through midnight. 


Commuters are asked to use the detour route via park Street.


The reason for the road closure is an event at the Capital Theatre/Ruth Eckerd Hall.

SUV lands in Largo ditch

Largo, Florida -- A traffic accident occurred at 14100 US HWY 19 N in Largo, landing a SUV in .

The SUV lost control, hit a power pole, and then went into a retention ditch filled with water.

The line ended up in the water and charged the water. The male and female were trapped for over 45 mins. At one point the male driver try to climb out into the water.

A witness on scene said the male was shocked. Progress Energy came to assist, then crews extricated the male driver and the female was able to leave the SUV on her own uninjured. The male was transported to Bayfront.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Many residents of Pinellas County are already using the Jolley Trolley regularly on the weekends. If you're not one of them, then hop on board!

The trolley is an inexpensive way to easily jump from different areas of Pinellas, inlcuding Downtown Clearwater, Dunedin, Palm Harbor, and Tarpon Springs, without having to worry about driving and parking.

The trolley runs once an hour Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ONLY.

Traffic delays possible during IronGirl Race

Clearwater, Florida -- Residents and people traveling in the area may experience some traffic delays during the 2011 IronGirl Event on Sunday, April 10, from 6 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Please allow for extra time when traveling the Sand Key Area, Clearwater Beach, Memorial Causeway, and downtown Clearwater. Due to the run route, there may be temporary closures on Coronado, between S Gulfview and the Roundabout.

Gulf Blvd. to open again after storm

Gulf Blvd. to open again after storm

Pinellas Beaches - Pinellas deputies have been advised by Progress Energy that the section of Gulf Boulevard between Indian Shores and Indian Rocks Beach which was previously closed is now open again.

 

There is still quite a bit of storm debris in the area, but Progress Energy has been working to remove downed wires and poles, and is finishing up that portion of the clean-up at this time.

Saint Petersburg, FL -- The Florida Highway Patrol has announced that the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is now closed to all high-profile vehicles due to weather related issues. 

Other traffic may continue to use the bridge at this time.
