Woman wanted for manatee riding

Tierra Verde, Florida -- Pinellas deputies are looking for the woman who was seen "riding" and touching a manatee at Fort DeSoto Park Sunday afternoon. 

The Environmental Lands and Marine Enforcement Unit of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office responded received reports of the woman's ride around 1 p.m., just north of the Gulf Pier. When they arrived, she was nowhere to be found.

Florida man offers alligators to swim at parties

MADEIRA BEACH, Florida (AP) - Forget about ponies, bounce houses and clowns.

For $175, a Florida businessman is spicing up kids' parties by bringing tiny alligators and letting them swim in clients' pools. Bob Barrett says the gator pool parties are totally safe - the reptiles' mouths are clamped shut with veterinary-grade tape.

Truck runs up utility pole on Gulf to Bay eastbound

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Police have shut down the eastbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Boulevard near Old Coachman after a man drove his truck up a utility pole.

Authorities say the driver does not appear to have any injuries. Crews are working to get him out of the truck safely and remove it from the pole.

Student streaks across football field during homecoming

Seminole High Homecoming, but it's not the football game that brings people to their feet...it's this.

A student, baring his buns, in a streak across the field.

3rd quarter, and the teen takes to the turf. Cops quickly close in, but the kid has some moves. He fakes out a pursuing officer who wipes out on the curb. As quick as a jackrabbit, the teen scales one fence, then another, as an accomplice arrives in a getaway car. Students cheering him on.

Man claiming to be on synthetic drugs attacks mother

Safety Harbor, Florida -- A man who told police he took synthetic drugs just before he attacked his mother is in custody Monday.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say Robert Payne walked into the kitchen where his mother was doing dishes and, for some unknown reason, grabbed her around the neck and began choking her. When she hit him on the head with a plate, he reportedly took a piece of it and cut her throat. 

Man fleeing police crashes into palm trees, signs

Clearwater, Florida -- It took two police agencies and two K-9 units, but a man fleeing a traffic stop in the area of Indian Rocks Beach was finally caught in Clearwater early Tuesday morning.

Clearwater Police say an officer in the area of S. Gulfview Boulevard and Gulf Boulevard responded to the intersection when he heard a nearby crash. When he got there, he saw that a Mercedes had taken out palm trees, landscaping, and signage just before the driver fled.

Honeywell security officer charged with kidnapping

New Port Richey, Florida -- A Honeywell security officer is facing kidnapping charges after a woman says he wouldn't let her out of his truck while demanding sex.

Krystal Wells told deputies James Cook picked her up near the Royal Palm motel in New Port Richey to give her a ride and requested sex. When she refused, she said he grabbed her arm and demanded it. 

At that point, she said she tried to get out of the truck but he wouldn't let her out and sped through the parking lot.
