Beau Zimmer
Reporter

I grew up in St. Petersburg and am glad to finally be back home working for 10 News. My career in television got off to an early start, at age 10, appearing on Channel 10's Saturday morning kid's program "This Side Up." At 13 I was hired as a junior correspondent for CNN covering Florida for an international audience on "Real News for Kids."

I attended Lakewood High School's Center for Advanced Technologies in St. Petersburg before graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in Telecommunication news. I also spent two years at St. Petersburg College and interned with the CBS News program "48 Hours" in New York.

Before arriving at 10 News, I spent two years reporting for WDRB-TV in Louisville. There I covered two Kentucky Derbies, and was nominated for an Emmy following my reports on school zone traffic crashes. In 2005, I was sent to cover Hurricane Katrina and rode out the storm's catastrophic winds in Gulfport, Mississippi. I spent a week at Cape Canaveral in 2003 following the Columbia disaster, and reported for CBS Radio during Florida's 2000 election recount confusion.

I currently call South Tampa home. I am a huge Florida Gators fan, am completely addicted to Publix Deli Subs, and travel out west to snow ski at least once a year. I also volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and enjoy spending time with my "Little" from St. Petersburg.
