Driver plows into South Pasadena Wal-Mart

South Pasadena, Florida -- Walmart Neighborhood Market shoppers in South Pasadena had a scary early morning when a driver crashed his SUV through the produce section.

Police say 32-year-old Frank J. Lucero was in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on Gulfport Blvd. S. at a stop sign directly facing the front of the store. A witness, who was in a vehicle behind Lucero, told deputies they noticed Lucero was not moving. The witness blew the horn, flashed the lights and when the vehicle still did not move, drove around it.

Deadly hit and run in St. Pete

St. Petersburg, FL - The St. Petersburg Police Department is currently on the scene of a hit and run accident at the intersection of 9th Avenue South and 16th Street. The initial call came in at approximately 3 a.m. Thursday.

Two vehicles were involved, with one being found unoccupied when officers arrived on the scene. It appears the driver and any other possible occupants of that car had already left the scene.

The second vehicle was found engulfed in flames with three occupants inside.

Deputies: Man cooked meth on Gandy Beach

St. Petersburg, Florida -- Pinellas deputies say a St. Pete man's day at the beach included cooking up some methamphetamine.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies noticed a dark colored Chevy Silverado parked along the tree line of Gandy Beach on Saturday night. Investigators made contact with the suspect, 24-year-old Charles J. Tapp, and discovered several needles inside the truck. During their investigation, deputies saw items that indicated the truck was possibly being used to manufacture meth.

Toddler's drowning in lake raises safety question

Clearwater, Florida -- The drowning of a 3-year-old boy in a pond at his Feather Sound apartment complex raises questions about safety standards, especially since the state requires fences around pools.

Pam Doering, who lives in the Bay Meadows Apartments where Ayush Anantharaman drowned Monday night, said the tranquil water used to be her oasis of calm.

"When I came out here, it just put it all back in my mind," she said. "It's really sad. Really sad.

Credit card skimming alert for gas station in St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida -- There apparently is another skimmer scam in Pinellas County, and officials say this one should concern everyone in the Bay area.

Two info-swiping devices were found at a pair of gas stations along Roosevelt Boulevard in St. Petersburg, and along Walsingham Road in Largo.

Customers, like Ashley Pelegrin, say they're concerned. And police say she may have good reason.
